Card holds, refunds & disputes
Last updated September 28, 2026
For customers of mechanics who use FlagHour. If you got a text with a link to confirm a visit, pay a bill or approve an estimate, this page explains what happens to your money and who to talk to.
Who you’re dealing with
Your agreement is with the business named in the text and at the top of the page — not with FlagHour. FlagHour is the software that business uses to schedule visits, send texts and take payments. Their name and phone number are on every page; tap Call to reach them.
Card holds
- A hold is not a charge. The amount is set aside on your card and nothing leaves your account unless the job happens.
- After the work, the hold counts toward your final bill, and the rest is charged to the same card. You get a text receipt.
- Cancel in time and the hold is released with no charge. If you cancel late or aren’t there, the business may keep a fee up to the amount shown on the hold page before you entered your card.
- A hold that isn’t used drops off your card by itself, usually within 7 days (your bank decides exactly when).
Refunds
Contact the business — only they can issue a refund, and they can do it straight back to your card. Refunds usually show up within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. When a refund is made, your receipt link shows it.
Disputes
If something’s wrong with a charge, please talk to the business first; most problems are fixed fastest that way. You always keep the right to dispute a charge with your bank or card issuer. The business is told about the dispute and can respond with their records.
Your card details
You type your card into Stripe’s secure form. Your full card number goes to Stripe, not to the business and not to FlagHour. The business sees only the card brand and last 4 digits.
Texts
You get texts about your appointment, card hold, estimate, bill and receipt from the business you gave your number to. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts or HELP for help.
Still stuck?
If you can’t reach the business, email help@flaghour.com with the link from your text. We can’t issue refunds ourselves, but we’ll contact the business and help sort it out. How we handle your information: Privacy Policy.
